The only useful settings that I found were + or - octave, and the 3rd and 5th (creates a chord/triad). I ended up selling mine because I used it so infrequently, but I remember that it often worked better when set to the wrong key--yes, the wrong key! So, try to fool around with the "key" knob; if I remember correctly (it's been about a year since I sold mine)I often got better results when set to the 3rd, 5th, or 6th of the actual key, but I'm not too sure about that.
