Compared to the bypassed signal , yes , a bit . I also find it clips easily without some form of compression in front . Would appreciate your tone-cure if you'd like to post it .  
 
Don't really know enough to comment on the erase problem . Still pretty much a beginner , though i've learnt heaps here over the last few years .
