Sounds to me like there's a few people here who are being a little "obsessive-compulsive" over what Eric Johnson does with his free time in pursuit of his personal artistic expression. Could there be some envy here, that whatever it is inside EJ that makes him do what he does, it has successfully produced a level of talent that's just a little beyond the ordinary?   Anyone who thinks that art is "rational" just doesn't get it and never will. EJ is operating at a level where he can do whatever he damn well pleases. If van Gogh had been in the habit of wiping snot on his canvas, who in their right mind would tell him not to?   I for one have no doubt that EJ does hear the differences he reports. That's why he's getting tones that have become recognizable trademarks.   As for the guitar tech, I'm sure EJ probably made it quite clear to him that he was NOT to clean the fretboard of his guitar. If he went ahead and did it anyway, then he was not acting in a professional manner.
