| Jim | Re: no subject Here's the story, my friend. The output z of an op-amp is indeed very low. But, you ask, why can't it drive a low resistance load? Because when it is called upon to drive a low ohm load, the current required to get the voltage swing is much higher than in normal use. This causes the current-limit protection circuitry in the op-amp output stage to kick in and reduce the current drive and thereby the output level. Most op-amps are rated for 2k minimum but a few can drive lower ones. (One of the gurus wrote and told me this) J2K |
