| friday | Re: TS-9 to TS-808 mod...Speak out! I want your opinion! I did the mod on a reissue TS-9 that sounded raspy and thin and now the pedal is usable. It has been some time but I remember replacing the op amp with a JRC4558 and doing the other two 808 substitutions mentioned in the "Anatomy of a Tube Screamer article" at geofex.com. The pedal sounds a heck of a lot better -fatter & warmer. As a side note if you are looking for the SRV tone thing you should consider exploring the fuzz face (germanium xstr) type pedals. He used them almost exclusively during his last few years on the planet. I am not a big fan of the 808/TS-9 but regarding the mod Go for it! |
