| Humbucker | Harsh noise when playing Strat through a POD. I was playing my Strat through a POD yesterday and noticed a horrible, harsh noise when playing some of the models. I later discovered this message that was posted on the POD Forum by a guy called Wolf, he describes it well. Here it is..... I get some very ugly accompanying noises with some amp models, especially Black Panel and to a lesser degree Brit Classic (unfortunately those are the ones I like most . . .). It's hard to describe but I'd say it's a very non-harmonic distortion when in overdrive range which starts at attack and lasts about 1 second. You can increase it by hitting a high string very hard, especially letting it slap back to the fretboard. It gets more or less masked by how you've set up the mid tone control, but with some settings it's rather extreme and makes the whole sound noisy and dirty. As far as I can say, that is noise over the whole frequency range, even with some rather low freq components. It's hard to imagine for me that the original amps have produced thes noises too (haven't played any of them), but it's striking that these noises are restricted to a few models, while others (small tweed for instance) don't have it at all. Forgot to say: I'm using a Strat type guitar, and I bet this problem is smaller with LesPaul type guitars (due to the different frequency spectrum). Any ideas? Well, this Wolf was on to something, I tried my LesPaul on these same amp models that were giving me problems with the Strat and the harsh noise didn't appear, is this strange or what?????? |
