| anonymous | Re: Which pedal? Everyone is looking for "this" or "that" tone, and expecting to find some magical combination that will nail it. Unfortunately, there are SO many variables involved that it would be impossible. Starting with the guitar, strings, pickups, setup, electronics....and then there's the teqhnique of the person, which no two are exactly alike due to hand size, playing technique, whether your on LSD or straight. Then you have the amps and speakers, of which each one is different, even if you have two of the exact same model. Then THAT signal is run into whatever mic(s), in whatever room(s), into whatever mixers and processing, set at whatever levels, and monitored over whatever speakers in whatever room. Then that signal is (or most likely) is squished a bit with compression to get it onto tape or whatever. THEN, you get the CD home and play it through whatever CD player, through whatever amp, through whatever speakers in a basically 2-dimensional soundstage. Since, when you play an amp in a room, it's 3-dimensional, and has full dynamics....you can never hope to "nail" the sound on the recording. All you can do is get a reasonable approximation of it, and it would be hard to tell what equipment you would have to use. Not an easy thing, trying to cop someone's tone. Sorry for the length. |
