| pHiLtHy | Re: Boss Ds-1 mod to the older version. agreed... the differences in tone and response are very subtle. and if i didn't have my 2 Japan models i would probably be content with the Taiwan version... it is nearly indistinguishable from the Japanese version and some folks would probably have a hard time telling the difference in a blindfold test. I have a B.C. Rich switching pedal board and was able to do a good a/b comparison. Like I said in an earlier post, if the Taiwanese version seems a little more brittle, i found it to be easily compesated for with the tone control. What I think would be really neat would be to modify the tone control with a dual stacked pot with an active sweepable mid control sort of like what's on a Jeckyll and Hyde on the "Hyde" side. In fact, I somewhat suspect that the Hyde side of that pedal may be modelled after a DS-1 just because of it's sonic qualities. Just a guess though... no evidence to base it on. pHiLtHy |
