Thanks for your input, I'll give it another try.  
I'll just describe my problem, when I have the Midiverb in the loop, (which is just after the preamp volume pot and before the phaseinverter) the signal is very strong so I have to set the input volume very low and then the output volume isn't enough to drive the pi.
