I will admit, the hype and word of mouth gets a little redundant after a while, but he doesn't pay anyone to say nice things about his products, he just makes nice products that people want to talk about. His cost isn't all that much. Consider a new, unmodded TS-9 goes for $125. A Fulldrive 2 isn't that much more at $180. Now consider that Ibanez buys bulk parts in the millions and has Korean factories assembling the TS's where few people are paid a living wage. Mike buys in the 100's and has a 15 or so employees that have to at least be making minimum wage (probably a lot more, good soldering is a talent). A DV2 is still a lot cheaper than the $800-1000 for a real Univibe and they are more consistent. As far as originality, well, you got me. I do know he mods and updates a lot of circuits, but they are still derivative from somewhere else. I think he has a couple original pedals in the works. I love Lovetone products, but you can only buy them direct. Most people don't even know they exist. And once you figure in the exchange rate (which isn't good right now $1 to 1.75 pounds), they range from $300-350 each themselves plus shipping. -Y.
