I have a Small Stone re-issue which ticks and swishes, also, even when the switch is off. If you look at the wires, it is amazing that current can even flow through the thin spaghetti that the Sovtek folks install. I know that that has to be the problem and will change them to thicker #22 wire soon. Good Luck.
