Electra diodes

Erin	Electra diodes I decided to make my 8 yr. nefw the effect for christmas(hes getting a guitar for chistmas, shhhh!) and so i proto'd it to see if i could modify it a bit, and found that the diodes dont do any thing. i checked the wiring and rebuilt and came up with the same thing. when both are in place its signal is low and muffled. i've done this circuit before about a year ago(my first) that one worked. i tried out alot of transistors and diodes and got the same response. it gives dist without the diodes. Its really bugging me, so I appologize for taking up so much room on what might turn out to be the way i connected them on the breadboard. any ideas? thanks
