| NickM | Re: guitar frequencies I not sure about the electronic aspect of this but every musical instrument produces an "overtone series". When two notes are played together say 1st + 5th, the overtones produced from this are an octave below the root note. When the two notes played produces a note below the "lower limit" of notes, it gets muddy. eg try playing chord low on a piano they are not as clear as higher up. Thats why 1st + 5th on the guitar sound so big with distortion. The lowest overtone produced depends on the notes being played. Gordon Delmont's "Modern Harmonic Theroy" explains this better than I can but the theroy goes back a long way |
