| Warren | Re: Voltage vs Tone Wow, thanks guys for the great info. Yes, I'm still using the 5AR4 but I will rectify that situation as soon as possilble. (sorry, bad pun). In the NFB loop I put a 5K pot in line with the 820K resistor. I like the flexibility it offers. Subtle, but effective. Biasing still freaks me out a bit so let me see if I got this straight: I'm measuring milliamps DC from Pin 8 to ground, correct? I actually just got a hold of an old Tektronix scope--tube powered of course--but I'm not quite sure how to use it properly. Anyone know of any resources explaining how to bias and troubleshoot with a scope. Sure looks cool... When I disconnect a speaker, I just leave the wires hanging 'cause its wired in parallel, right? Benjamin, I have an AC30 already that I totally love, but it isn't quite the right sound for this band. Plus, that thing is really loud. It smokes my friends marshall stack. Sure sounds good though... I probably could use some new tubes as well. It's been a while since I replaced them and the amp has seen some heavy use. Any recomendations? I was thinking about the Svetlana's for gigging, then saving up for some NOS's for when we go to in the studio. As always, many thanks. Warren |
