Many people think that the 'More Drive' on the Hotrod brings in the previously unused tube stage. It doesn't. The 'more drive' switch simply switches in a cathode bypass cap on an unbypassed tube stage. (Can you say 'fat' switch?) The Hotrod also has adjustable bias and uses the 4 ohm speaker tap on the output transformer for the ext. speaker jack. The Blues has the speaker tap but does not use it. The Duncan amp site has a mod for the Blues that uses the unused tube stage. It is rather severe but would be easy to tweak. I did the mod to a Blues Deluxe. I plan to add a Fender type tone stack to it using trimpots to knock the level down and be able to shape the distortion tone.
