However, when I replaced the 5881's in mine to EL-34's, I started having problems with the channel switching. It would go to channel one and stay there no matter what button you pushed. As soon as I switched back to 5881's the problem went away. There is a way around it though. If you don't mind running the amp at 50 watts all the time, just remove two of the power tubes. Running only two of the EL-34's works just fine, apparently do to less current draw.
