| Wyatt | They were the same. The Firebirds and LP Deluxes used the exact same mini-humbuckers, the LP's just have exposed adjustable pole-pieces. My #1 is a '72 LP Deluxe with mini's. I love them. They tone and output are somewhere inbetween a strat SC and PAF. The neck PU is very full and bluesy, but the bridge is a little thin and requires a good beefy amp sound. Neil Young's Old Black has a Firebird mini at the bridge and P100 (now there's a PU I can't stand) at the neck. Gibson's modern mini's (used in the Firebird RI and Nighthawk) are wound hotter though. Seymour Duncan and Sky both make great vintage versions. Epiphone has RI'd the LP Deluxes with the Sky PU's. -Y. |
