It would be nice to know how far you could go that way without noticeable effect on sound.  
I don't know all details, but I've seen some graphs with speaker impedance curves. Usually there's a peak at about 80-120 Hz, then the impedance goes lower until at 200-300 Hz it starts to rise again. I think that you could use the information on GFR's page at http://www.geocities.com/SunsetStrip/Studio/2987/speaker.html, there's the speaker emulator circuit. I guess you could use your speaker as Les (= Let in "schematics"). GFR or other, any ideas?
