| S.Fillipp | Re: Hotplate sidetracked Of course sharing information is not patent infringement. Didn't mean to suggest that it was. All issued patents are a matter of public record - as such the information contained in them can be disseminated by anyone in any medium. Apparently in my efforts to be brief (for a change), I have missed the mark. My remark was a response to Anonymous's post suggesting that the fact that Marshall wound up as one of the major forces in the amp industry justifies the fact that their first efforts were copies of the Fender Bassman. What Marshall did was probably legal - I doubt Fender had UK patents. And they subsequently went on to produce great amps. I just don't think there is any particular creativity in producing a COMMERCIAL copy of a CURRENT product, regardless of the eventual outcome. As long as we're on the subject of people's rights, how about the right to be free from competition from people who are not willing to put in the sweat to come up with their own designs? (I'm not talking DIY here, I'm talking commercial competition.) Regards, SF |
