Tube listening tests continued:

I tried a JAN/Phillips 12AX7A that I got ahold of.
VERY sweet sounding tube, in all positions. It has a broad, flat frquency response and a very liquidy, musical mid and high. My distortion channel lost a little too much of that Chinese brashness, but this baby absolutely shines in the clean channel. Smooth, fluid. Probably a great choice for a Bassman or Twin. Gain level is comparable to a Sovtek WA but much sweeter and smoother sounding. As for the "too smooth" character in the distortion dept., maybe it would shine in a Boogie-type cascading circuit. I'll also try it in my friend's JCM900...Keep those tube reviews coming...
