Seems that in my DIY amp, I wondered if this may be the culprit, and sorta jiggled some of the leads around to see if it changed the intensity of the squeal. No change. But next chance I get, I'll try that again more seriously. So - Ritchie, you say I need to pay particular attention to the cathode wires? I am not a wire routing/board layout genius, and the tangle of wires in this thing is most gnarly. FYI: In all three projects I've encountered this in, the screech happened independently of whether my guitar was plugged in.
