Instead of the fine tuning pot on the front or rear panels, another approach could be a multi-position rotary switch with fixed value resistors. That way there'd be no drifting unless the resistors themselvesdrifted off value.  
Of course, any changes should be done with the amp off or on standby, so you don't lose bias.  
Hmmm- maybe not a great idea.
