The air flow is not too strong but hot air is moved away from the tubes keeping them cool. All you want is some air circulation around your tubes to get good heat exchange. I am not too worried about tubes getting hot, that's what they are supposed to do. However caps and pots are quite vulnerable components whose lifetime can be greatly increased by decent cooling.
