ethRe: 9 Pin Tube Sockets
The central tag was put in place to increase high frequency performance by blocking the pin to pin capacitance's. The way I see it is creating a capacitance to ground (a first order rolloff) rather than a capacitance between say grid and plate, or grid and cathode( 2nd order rolloff). For guitar amps this small difference and the frequencies affected does not matter, Furthermore some guitarists prefer big bottle triodes because of there larger interelectrode capacitance/ fatter/smoother tone. Whatever, perhaps you (those of you into voodoo) may want to avoid using that tag! Rockout!-eth
