The bright cap on the volume control will have more of an effect on tone at low volume settings than at high volume settings. These amps usually have enough high end that you could remove the cap and still have plenty of treble tweaking range. You could replace one of the pots (volume or treble) with a pot with a push/pull switch and use it to switch the bright cap in or out of the circuit.  
 
The 56K tone slop resistor is a good idea as well as the 68uf cathode cap. Both will fatten then tone nicely for all volume settings.
