Keep in mind that unlike electric guitar which utilizes the amp as part of the instrument, the acoustic amp should not add or detract from the sound; just make it louder. This becomes difficult when you consider the many different ways you get signal to the amp: humbucker, single coil, piezo, close mike, internal mike, contact mike and all/any combination. A good PA amp is a good start and lots of tone shaping tools are recommended to enable the player to nutralize what is added by the transducers.
