2nd harmonic output tube distortion

9/19/1998 12:16 PM
cbs2nd harmonic output tube distortion
1.)I read in Radiotron that in a P-P class A power amp there is a 2nd harmonic present at the center tap of the output tranny. I wonder if this "signal" can bleed back into the signal path? Could this be part of the "sound" of the class A AC30. It also has a GZ34 rectifier which has less res/cap due to closer electrodes, could this help inject the 2nd harmonic back into the signal path?

2.)Also in Radiotron the power stage phase inverter, said to have increased 2nd harmonic distortion. It is configured; dual pentode p-p, a voltage splitter between the OT center tap and the plate of valve #1, feeding valve #2. Has anyone heard an amp like that?
