Oddly enough, this doesn't really impact the overall bass output under moderate to heavy distortion, but really brings out the chunk. I have been using bass on 2, mid at 8-10, treble around 2-3, and presence depending on my mood, but generally low. This seemed at first like the wrong approach to me, but it works pretty good. I run straight in to the treble hi gain input on 8-10, bridged the inputs and normal channel volume on 6-10, depending on guitar. Another way to tighten up the bass response for a nice thick chunk is to use a dstortion pedal. Try them before you buy. I've got an older Boss SD-1 and it truly stinks. Regards and good luck.
