Well here's some info gleaned from alt.guitar amps.Safer to load your amp with a lower impedance than a higher one.ie. an amp designed to operate into a 4 ohm load if operated into 16 ohm load,will end up arcing from screen to plate(I think)ruining your tube sockets,tubes,and output trans.I've seen amps in this condition.This condition results from an improperly loaded secondary,causing high flyback voltages at the socket.I'm out on a limb a bit here,but the info was from sources I feel are reputable... |
