Yeah, I see what you mean. I sometimes resort to hooking up the scope and the signal generator. If I can't seem to get the amp sounding right, I hook up the scope to see if it cross-over distortion in the power amp or something else causing the offensive tone. I usually just use my ear and the formula's previously stated. I'm just lazy I guess! :)
