| Don | Re: Tube Amp Book Opinions I'll add my voice to the support of O'Connor's book. While it is expensive, it's got a lot of clearly stated information. I've also got the others you listed, and most of them pale considerably next to TUT. Most of them are in serious need of editing. Funk's book, while containing some useful information, is *really* painful to read. Why someone would release something that poorly written is beyond me. Weber's books are filled with some interesting ideas, but it pisses me off that he takes a good portion of the back of each book (36 pages in one and 39 in the other) to hype his products with "reviews" and the like. I hate paying for knowledge and getting a good dose of self-serving advertisement along with it. Christ, he refers to his company so many times in the narrative the careful reader knows about Kendrick amps by the time he or she finishes one paragraph BTW, this board and some of the newgroups are also great sources of info. I'm just learning and I've had a lot of help from "net" folks. Thank you all very much. Cheers, don daput@pe.net Idyllwild Brewing Company |
