| Pete | Re: new capacitors I'm of the school that says "Dont worry about it". Think about it. Every time you turn off your amp, the caps will begin to drain. In some amps, these caps drain quite rapidly, and in alot of amps they will drain to near zero volts if left standing idle for long peroids of time. Alot of Fender BF amps have resistors across the primary caps. If you unplug that amp leaving the standby switch in the "On" position, those caps will drain off quite nicely. What's my point? Some people reshape the caps every time they use the amp. And I really don't hear people squakin bout it. However, I've noticed the the phenomenon of "Motor-boating" to be greater upon initial power-up when the caps are not shaped at all. I use the light bulb method. |
